We appreciate that getting about and understanding your new home is important particularly with young children. We offer tours tailored to suit your individual needs and can be completed over a period of a few days or even later after you feel more settled.
What is important is you, your family and how you are adapting to your new environment. A basic orientation tour is recommended within the first 72 hours upon arrival into Australia so as to assist you to adapt to your new environment with ease.
City tour
You will want to know all about the new city you have relocated to. This tour will be conducted during office hours on a week day. You will be shown the Central Business District (CBD). Major commercial buildings of interest will be covered such as the major financial institutions, central post office, major shopping centres as well as restaurants and other places of interest.
You will have the option of choosing your preferred cuisine for lunch which will be included in the tour. Australia is a multi-cultural society with over 120 nations represented. This has resulted in a diverse range of cuisines being available.
Local tour
This will be a customised tour involving approximately 4 hours including lunch that will be designed to take account of your family’s interests and life style. You will be shown around the local shopping areas and other nearby larger shopping centres and entertainment precincts like cinemas, video arcades, bowling alleys and other places of interest including places of worship, local medical and dental clinics, public libraries, access to public transportation e.g. bus stops and train stations.
Weather permitting, picnic lunches can be organised as part of this tour. Some parks have barbeque stoves that run on gas that you can purchase with some Australian gold coin i.e. $1 or $2 gold coins. Other parks offer free wood to build your own fire under the barbeque stove. You will get to experience the great outdoors of Australia!
However, if being outdoors and picnics are not quite what you like to do or if the weather is unsuitable, there are many other options for lunch such as smorgasbords or buffets, Yum Cha which is Chinese cuisine served in small amounts to sample the many varieties of delicacies, Italian restaurants that serve pasta, pizza and lovely gelato or ice-cream and many more.
Customised tour
We recognise that different people have different needs. In a customised tour, we discuss your needs that will help you feel most settled. For some people, it is to know where to find other people from their country of origin. In this instance, the tour could include visiting places associated with that country. For example, visiting an event organised by clubs or associations by people from the same nationality so that contact can be made with people from similar backgrounds or country.
Sometimes certain nationalities use particular ingredients for cooking which may not necessarily be available in the popular supermarkets or grocery shops. This information would help you feel more at home if you knew immediately where you can find these ingredients and be shown how to get there.
Your needs will vary and it is our aim to find out what is important for your well-being to facilitate a sense of belonging in your new country of abode.
